Medication Management

Medication tasks are performed efficiently by preparing disinfectants like Betadine and Hygin Ball and placing them in key areas. Enema solutions are compounded and readied, while emergency medications not auto-dispensed from Omnicell are collected from the pharmacy and handed to nurses. Emergency narcotics are received from the pharmacy and delivered, categorized medications are moved to the medication information room by storage area, returned medications are sent to the pharmacy for processing, and discharge medications for immobile or unaccompanied patients are picked up on their behalf.

Document and CD Handling

Scanned documents are forwarded to relevant departments, and external hospital imaging CDs for patients without guardians are registered. CDs are duplicated and provided during night or N-shifts when needed, along with other support tasks.

Specimen Processing

Specimens are collected, pre-registered, and sent to the lab via systems like delivery tubes or Telecap.

Set Preparation and Maintenance

Procedure sets such as central line kits, injection kits, and suture kits are prepped in advance, and used sets are initially cleaned and organized. Sets are returned to or retrieved from the supply room, with expiration dates of sets and gauze checked regularly.

Supplies and Environment Maintenance

Injection prep rooms, sinks, and overbed tables are kept tidy; linens and blankets are organized, and curtains are replaced as needed. Discharge beds and surroundings are cleaned, new patient beds are made up (bed making), hand sanitizers and paper towels are refilled. Nurse uniforms are managed, fridge and room temperatures are checked and logged, and wall oxygen (wall O2) and suction equipment in rooms are set up, used, and inspected.

Patient Transfers

Transfers are arranged when inpatient rooms are full; requests are made for ICU bed shortages or when urgent surgeries or treatments can’t be done on-site. Links to nursing homes, transfers for mild cases to suitable facilities, re-transfers to prior nursing homes, patient/guardian-requested transfers, and moves to advanced emergency centers for specialized care are handled.
